[Anyone paying attention to the network would have been witness to the sudden turning on of Marui's device just before it crashes down, skids across the floor and somehow settles at a nice angle where you can all see the inside of a barn-- the barn in Goldenrod. If anyone is familiar enough with the area, you would know that it is part of the Tennis House, and where Rikkai keeps most of their Pokémon, when they're not in their balls. Heh, balls.

Anyway, getting to the point: a certain Girafarig's darker half is biting at Marui, looking angry or distraught or a mixture of both. The front half doesn't seem to mind what his backside is doing, probably even approving of the biting. The Rapidash nearby don't seem to be paying much attention to the scene, but the Machamp seems concerned at least.]

Owww, quit it, Ace! Let me do my job and-- not the ear! Let me just-- Don't make me put you back in your PokéBall! [Oh, that seemed to work...? It stopped biting Marui, at least, and Ace is letting the redhead pet him now.] You're not the only one upset that Akaya's gone, you know.

[And it is at this point that something big, blue and furry sits(or rolls over) in front of the camera, snores, and makes the feed cut off. But if you're ever in the area, Marui will just be in the barn, making sure all the Rikkai Pokémon are well-fed and warm and totally not sulking, who does that? Sheesh.]

[So, the apple he was going to shove at Ace's biting mouth? He throws it straight at you, Niou. Jerk.

But then Marui runs out of things he could distract Ace with, so when the next bite comes, he blocks it with his arm and the Girafarig bites down on it and doesn't let go, opting instead to chew on Marui's arm. Or at least that's what you'd expect, but Cougar the Machamp steps in the way and it's his arm that gets bit (and he takes damage from the move, and his defense is lowered a bit).]

C-Cougar! [The Machamp gives Marui a thumbs up with one hand, and with a third, he starts patting the front half's head to calm it down.] ...Thanks, I guess.

[Then he shoots Niou a glare.] Look, the Pokemon are being more useful than you are. What are you doing there, anyway?

No, I don't. [he looks confused.] Who are you, anyway?

[Marui sighs again, and he moves to Ace's other side so he could rub the Girafarig's back. He's stopped biting or bashing his head on Marui now, but he's still very upset. The redhead, too.]

...He had only two badges left. If I've gotten Ecruteak's badge too, I'd have caught up with him, like I promised him when I got here.

[It's not like he can't just catch it, Marui. Even if the stem stings a bit as it smarts his palm.

He rolls his eyes and leans onto his other foot when the attention on him is diverted. Then, after waiting a moment to check Marui isn't going to turn to look at him again, he glances back at the ponies all in the corner behind him, and well. It's where Akaya's old one is as well now anyway.]

Watching you be less useful than the Pokemon as well? [It's offered with a faint smile because really, Marui, you're not doing much better.

It's obviously not the reason he's there though. Not really.]

Tch! At least I tried, unlike you.

[Marui uses a potion on the Machamp for the bite, and moves over to the front half of the Girafarig, who is much calmer than the back half. Jackal was better at Pokemon grooming than he was, obviously, but someone's got to do it. Especially with the amount of Pokemon collecting in the Barn now...]

I wasn't going to though.

[Niou will just do it when Marui isn't looking, okay. There is no need for him to know that he can help if he wants to - he just finds it slightly entertaining to watch him struggle along.

He would've been farther still if he hadn't come back to Goldenrod when he did.

[When he was gone, and they all started disappearing in a swarm—Yanagi, Yukimura, Sanada, Niou. When he'd cracked, sent those frantic texts, ~~begged~~ insisted that their junior come back, come home.

It's not such a bad thing, letting him learn to outgrow us. We always knew he'd have to, sooner or later.

[he sighs, a little more depressed than he initially thought he was. but there's nothing helping that; people come and go in johto. at least akaya's where he really belongs now, right...?]

Man, if it wasn't so cold I'd probably stuff myself silly with parfaits. [he's trying to cheer up, really.]

[will just ignore that first remark, yep. some things never change, after all, even if you throw them into a video game world.]

Oh, I do have one! He's a bit too large for me to carry now though... I did make a small investment in warmer clothes as well... But there's really nothing like curling up in a blanket and watching a few dramas to stay warm~

[No, no they won't. Marui will have to learn one day that he's only nice to a very small amount of people. Basically Yagyuu and Yukimura- Anyway.

He shrugs at that.]

[He meant the Pokemon anyway. He already knows that Yagyuu is going to be. Well. He doesn't want to think of that just yet.]

....Yes. [so he can pretend to put a curse on you, or whatever it is stupid butthurt teenagers do. not that he will admit to being one.]

Mmm... His Rapidash is with the others, so he's probably yours. I think Yagyuu got the Quagsire.

[The Machamp is now patting Marui on the head with one of his hands, and Ace has calmed down by now, just looking depressed.]

Dunno who his other Pokemon went to...

Ah, when you put it like that, it does sound better being cooped up inside than going out into the cold, haha! [he tilts his head, considering something.] Is anyone with you, though? Doesn't that get lonely?

He was kinda cute now that you mention it. He certainly had spunk! He wasn't any sort of coward.

Haha, yeah, he kinda is! You should've seen him in his first year, when he challenged Rikkai's Big Three. That was really something. He's definitely gonna climb higher than all of us... [wow, listen to him talk like a proud parent, or something.]

[His eyes are more on Ace than Marui now though, taking in how it is affected by the loss of Akaya. It's weird to see, but he knows that cats and other pets would do the same anyway.]

Mmm, I'm staying alone at the moment, yes... And that can get a bit lonely at times... But this network helps quite a good deal with that, doesn't it? No one is ever really alone as long as it works...
