[So there’s Marui by the exit of Ecruteak to Route 42, with a rather large backpack and stuffing his face with a donut. He’s standing next to a Rapidash fashioned with bicycle handlebars (because he told Masamune he’d try it out, too). He has a map out in his free hand.]

Mahogany isn’t as far as I thought it was. At least we’ll be out of here soon, so you don’t have to worry about another Ghastly suddenly appearing in front of you. [There’s a teasing grin on Marui’s lips as he looks at his companion, Yagyuu.]

[The aforementioned Yagyuu, for his part, looks mildly disgruntled at the teasing, but largely keeps his expression composed. He’s walking along with his own Rapidash, which is more traditionally saddled.] It’s around a day’s walk, isn’t it? That should be quite manageable, particularly with the help of the horses.

[Yeah, he’s not touching the ghost thing. Blech, ghosts.]

Yep! We’ll get there in no time, and I’ll be one step closer to the League. Plus, after I get my last badge, we can explore Kanto! [Marui folds the map and keeps it in his pocket. He was so excited just thinking about travelling to Kanto.

He pulls out a packet of gum and offers a stick to Yagyuu, with a big grin on his face. Sometimes, it was hard to tell if he was just genuinely happy or if he was going to tease. Only sometimes, though.] And if another ghost-type appears, I promise I’ll catch it!

[Yagyuu looks as though he’s about to refuse the gum out of sheer force of habit, but then after a moment, reconsiders and actually takes the offered stick, though he doesn’t pop it into his mouth.] Yes, because that’s precisely what the house needs. More ghosts.

They’re just pokemon, Yagyuu. Nothing to be afraid of! [Marui says it like he’s never been scared of ghosts at all, but Yagyuu was the one with the issues here, not him. He unwraps and shoves two sticks of gum in his mouth and starts chewing.]

But man, I should have asked you to come with me when I got my Fog badge! [Marui is snickering, and hopes that Yagyuu didn’t catch that. He blows a bubble and unclips a pokeball from his belt, he opens it and aims at at the broadcasting ‘Gear, and the next instant, the ‘Gear falls to the ground with a clatter.]

I really should figure out how to keep Ouja in his ‘Ball. [Marui walks over to pick up the gear, gives it a grin and a wave before shutting it off.]

I dunno. Some of them are kinda cute. I've always liked Gengar. I probably should have caught one, hm...

I don't think there's anything cute about ghosts. My Minccino is cute, though! [ She holds the chinchilla-like Pokemon out toward the 'Gear. ]

Well-- there is! I don't have a ghost-type to show off, though, but your Minccino is cute! [Marui waves at the minccino.] What's his name? Or is he a she?

He's a he! His name's Yuki. [ Beaming like whoa. ] Maybe if I found a cute ghost Pokemon that wasn't scary, I'd catch it.

Ooh, that's a really good name for him!

And I'm sure there are cute ghost Pokemon around. They're probably still just hiding.

I named him after my brother's best friend!

Maybe Miyuki-chan knows of some. I'll have to ask her.

Really? Haha! I have a Pokemon named after my best friend too! He's big and strong, just like Jackal!

If you find one, catch it for me? I'll trade you a super cute Pokemon for it! [so maybe it's too much to ask from a girl who doesn't like ghost pokemon, but it's worth a shot right?]

[ She giggles. ] Yuki is just like Yukito-san, too! He sleeps and eats a lot.

Um.... [ Looking very unsure. ] I-I'll try!

I guess sometimes it's easier to name Pokemon after people we know, especially if they have similar personalities!

The one I'm in charge of isn't mean at all, you know. He's troublesome and likes to play tricks, but he's not malicious.

I'm afraid so. I inherited him when my friend and teammate left. He's a Gengar.

[And he is not saying its name because IT IS EMBARRASSING, okay. Niou why did you name a Gengar after him. So awkward.]

[ Looking quite unsure. ]

C-can I see him?

[ She's not even sure if she wants to, but she doesn't know what a Gengar looks like. Seems like her curiosity is out weighing her fear of ghosts. ]

[usedlaserbeam]

[No. No. Absolutely not. Oh, no, hell no, he just got done with the city full of terrifying ghost Pokemon, there is no chance in hell he's bringing out his own just because a twelve-year-old girl is being unsure all over the pl—]

Let's see if he'll behave himself today.

[He remarks, edging just slightly closer to Phantom as he pulls out a Pokeball and tosses it, setting free his Gengar and silently steeling himself for the terror of its appearance. Fortunately, Hirochii is already quite familiar with the workings of the Gear (playing with it being one of his favorite pastimes, after all), and although he looks pretty shy when he first appears, he musters up his best Scary Ghost Grin with a proud Gen!]

[ Oh hey, that's not so bad.

Then he grinned.

Clearly, it doesn't take much to scare Sakura. ]

[Hilariously, Hirochii probably jumps just as high as Sakura does at the sound of her shriek, startled by the abrupt noise — but then it sinks in that oh boy, he actually scared someone again! And then he just looks proud of himself, in that enthusiastic and slightly disbelieving sort of way.

Yagyuu, meanwhile, is mustering all of his resolve to not embarrass himself in the face of terror. WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SANADA-KUN, YAGYUU. IMMOVABLE LIKE THE MOUNTAIN.]

Evidently not.

[ And after several seconds of covering her eyes and shaking her head, she peeks between her fingers at the 'Gear. ]
